Used Air- and magnetic Drop Hammers

Air drop and magnetic drop hammers are tools used in metalworking to shape or machine materials. Both types of hammers use the force of gravity to drop the hammer head onto the material being worked. An air drop hammer is powered by compressed air. A piston inside the hammer is powered by compressed air and moves a hammer head up and down a vertical rod. As the hammer head is moved upward, air is injected into a cylinder below the hammer head to accelerate the hammer head downward. The movement of the hammer head is controlled by a control mechanism that can adjust the height and force of the blows. A magnetic drop hammer, on the other hand, uses a magnetic force to pull the hammer head up and gravity to drop it down. The hammer head is attached to the top of the hammer with an electromagnet. A pulse of electricity is sent through the magnet to disengage the hammer head from the magnet and drop it down. Both types of hammers are capable of exerting large forces on the material and can be used in forging, blacksmithing, automotive, shipbuilding and many other industries.
